History of the School:

St. Michael’s N.S. was established on the current site in 1902. The school was divided into a boys’ school and a girls’ school. It had four classrooms. The two were linked together – a door on the corridor connected the two schools but this door was always locked. In 1961 the school was rebuilt by Lennon and Lynch at a cost of €15,000. An extra room was built on then giving five classrooms. In 1966 Ballydonnell N.S. was closed and, at the amalgamation of the three schools, the locked doors were opened and mixed classes introduced. In 2003 the €1.3m extension and refurbishment of our school was carried out by Corbett builders and designed by Helen Toppin. The old school was completely refurbished, two new classrooms, P.E. hall and ancillary accommodation was provided. Our school was expanded further in 2023 with the addition of a modular classroom on site.
